Description of Arctic Adventure

Arctic Adventure is an early Apogee game designed by George Broussard.

The game is similar to Monument of Mars and Pharaoh's Tomb: an exploratory game that combines elements from different genres. In the game, you have to collect pick axes to destroy ice, keys to unlock doors, and avoid monsters.

Similar to later action games from Apogee, except much more simplistic. You view the action from the bird's eye view, and the graphics are adequate given the 4-color limitation of CGA.

A nice little game with devious level design that already shows Apogee's knack at making fun, unassuming cross-genre shareware titles that can stand with the best of commercial games. Thumbs up!

Downloadable for free at the 3D Realms site in the description above, though you have to register. Oddly, though, they're claiming it needs Windows XP/Vista/7, or 8, a Core 2 Duo or above, and 2GB of RAM! Perhaps they're supplying the game with a virtual machine.

archive folder? dosbox doesn't do "drag-n-drop" you need to expand and extract the archives. there's all sorts of files in the archive, and four of them are .exe labeled A01 through A04. In dosbox you need to navigate to the folder with those files and execute them, as if you were using DOS. 'CD' to change to the listed directory, then type the file name (generally you can drop the extension for com and exe files). But that assumes you understand how to set up and use dosbox (which you can learn on their site).

This isn't actually available for sale on Steam or GOG... it's also not available to download from 3D Realms anymore?

@HELLO have you look the archive content ? It's 4 folders corresponding to 4 episodes. Drag each folder separatly ;)

This won't work. when I drag it to dosbox, it says "the archive does not contain any executable files"
The others game worked so why not this one?

for Macs use Boxer (easier) or Dosbox (retro, harder to use but with better game support)
