Description of Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure

This is a fun game featuring the Bill & Ted characters of Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter in the 1989 movie by Nelson Entertainment. As Bill and Ted, you're going to the same whacked-out, time-warped trip through human history seen in the movie.

The goal: nab a few famous persons from history so that they can help you pass the most heinous history exam. With the aid of a traveling phone booth, you need only to dial a year and off you go, back in time. Bill & Ted's Adventure touts itself as an arcade adventure, but the "adventuring" portions of the game are so laughably simplistic that no-one should mistake it for another LucasArts classic.

The action portion, however, is quite good-- a fact that will surprise many old-timers who recall Capstone as one of the (if not THE) worst game companies ever existed. The 12 historical celebrities (ranging from Joan of Arc, to Sigmund Freud and Gengkhis Khan) are in their own time periods, replete with good background graphics and enemies appropriate for that era.

Fighting thugs and finding these "dudes" are half the task-- in many cases, you'll need some object to convince them to go with you. On difficulty levels 3 and 4, you'll need more than one object. There is some (albeit minimal) educational value here, as you'll have to guess which object is wanted by whom (still, TWINKIES for Gengkhis Khan ought to make parents shake their heads in disbelief).

Overall, a "light" side-scrolling game that may be mildly entertaining for fans of the movie, and is a slightly better game than Capstone's other failures.

this game works; you have to reset the audio in dosbox config if youre running it in dfend; the 0 Insert key is the action button. directions for movement Space toggles the inventory cursor on the left you select it and hit 0 insert. You need a keyboard with a numlock pad. on starting the game it asks you to select joy stick or keypad for your difficulty 4 is max and requires the most dudes. you need the phone numbers for all the historical figures. you find a historical item at each location and can use it or use it on a historical figure to get them to come with you.

We sit out to eat, and the potato's a bit hot. So I only put a little bit on my fork and I blow. *puff puff* 'Till it's cool. Just cool. Then it's into the mouth. *WHOIP* *click* Noice. And there's my brother, he's doing the same. *puff puff* 'Til it's cool. Just cool. Into the mouth. *WHOIP* *click* Noice! There's my mum, she's doing the same. *puff puff* 'Til it's cool. Just cool. Into the mouth. *WHOIP* *click* Noice! But my dad. My dad, what does he do? He stuffs a great big chunk of potato, and then that really does it. His eyes pop out. He flaps his hands. He blows, he puffs, he yells, he bobs his head up and down. He spits bits of potato all over his plate and he turns to us and he goes, "Watch out, everybody! The potato's really hot!"

An unwritten rule is that movies based on video games will undoubtedly be failures. The rule for video game based on movies? You'll either love it or hate it. I loved the movie and hated this game, but my brother loved this game and hated the movie. Go figure.

loads fine but first level has a store and a ph booth. seems lik eyou need to dial #'s to get to places. Portraits are on the right but you cannot access them (with just a keyboard), pressing space bar brings up a mouse cursor but you can only select items on the left.
This game appears to be unplayable without a mouse.
