Navcom 6: The Persian Gulf Defense
DOS - 1988
Also available on: Commodore 64
Description of Navcom 6: The Persian Gulf Defense
Mediocre naval simulation that is based on a unique viewpoint: defend the Persian Gulf in a Navy Cruiser. Despite this intriguing setting, Navcom 6 is disappointingly limited: there are only 3 missions in the game, and not a whole lot of gameplay options to satisfy armchair commanders.
There simply isn't enough to do in the game to warrant its commercial status-- feels more like an unfinished simulation than anything else. If you want a realistic and complex simulation of naval warfare, RAW's Action Stations! or SimCan's Red Sky at Morning fits the bill much better than this game.
Definitely one of the most forgettable releases from COSMI. Thumbs down on this one.

A Wise Old Man 2013-02-19 0 point DOS version
The reason there's only three missions is that this was the demo begware version. Before it was to be marketed through BBS downloads, Cosmi had some sort of financial downturn, and the game was rushed out as a full commercial game without the extra six paid version scenarios or the scenario editor. Also had some features that were never finished involving resource management and recon ops, the code of which is still in the game itself and can be visible if you do a decompile of the executable. As the review above said, it's an unfinished sim.
