Description of Prime Time

TV Mogul (known as Prime Time in the US) is a decent business simulation that lets you manage and run a TV station. Despite attempts to inject realism, however, the game suffers from flawed business model (e.g. many times your ratings would seem to drop for no apparent reason) that was worsened by many random elements. Perhaps the designer did this intentionally to increase the difficulty level, as the AI is none too bright, but this flawed engine definitely came across as superficial and illogical.

The bottom line: only play this average underdog if you are really bored with everything else. Anyone interested in the subject matter would do well to pass this by and pick up Mad TV 1 and Hollywood Mogul instead. A disappointing game to say the least.

A Wise Old Man 2013-02-19 2 points DOS version

The joke at the time was that the ratings AI was based on the same flip-a-coin system the AC Nielsen company used to determine if a show was a hit or not. Still, if you want a fairly fun look at the way TV used to work when there were only three real networks, one educational joke, a fourth network trying to get off the ground, and a mexican-language network that nobody watched unless that bumblebee man was on, then this game is good for about 10 minutes of laughs. If you can get it to work on a tablet PC, you've got something to occupy you in the bathroom as well.
