Shakdzilla: You are correct, the rather misleadingly titled "Rune Classic" has some changes compared to the old release; they "dumbed down" some things by removing or adding hints to a few of the harder sections in the level progression, added some monster variants that initially appeared in the PS2 version, and did change around the weapons' rune powers as well. If it's the GOG release, at least, there should also be a "Rune Gold" installer in the extras section: that's the non-remixed version of the game the way it was back in the day.

I think the Steam/GOG version is cut, and the weapons have wrong skill on them.

Well it seems that the original Rune was pulled off from all the stores once the Rune II released. Is it abandonware now then?

This game also works on Windows. Steam has it for sale, and a new Rune is in the making as well. Fun game.

Be warned, assuming it wasn't fixed...There is a stage later on where you're required to sneak into a building from a top ledge of a roof roost door, which then is supposed to spawn two guys breaking down a door below you. For whatever reason, the outside ledge doors sometimes wouldn't open, therefore halting progress. No Clipping through would usually activate the guys breaking the lower door down.
