Play in browser works perfectly in Firefox when running TREK.BAT, although I didn't seem to have any luck with TRANS.EXE or MAKEEGA.BAT. Saving also works, although name your save files something you can remember - there's no list, so you'll have to type in the file name to load!
Interesting little game. Clonky and not exactly beautiful, it occupies an awkward space between text and graphical adventures. I do enjoy that you can call a conference at any time to talk about the situation and any discoveries you've made, and subsequent Star Trek adventures missed a trick to not include this considering how iconic such scenes are. I also like that you can privately ponder the current circumstances yourself, sometimes leading to new options. The late game is unfortunately excessively padded with long periods of waiting around for something to happen, which is especially frustrating as it's not clear which actions advance time. Still, it doesn't take very long to complete once you understand what you're doing, and I'm glad I experienced this obscure slice of very early Trek gaming!
