How to set this up properly on DosBox

You have to do 2 mounts:
1) imgmount d c:\[location of the downloaded file].iso -t iso
2) mount c c:\[location of the downloaded file]
3) navigate to the directory on c
4) type "install" to set up the game
5) type "dune" to play

Remember playing this at 12 or 13 when it first came out and loved it then. Fired it up this past weekend and knocked it over in about 6 hours or so. Brought back some great memories and was still surprisingly easy to get into and work out as I went along.

this is one of the best games EVER..
the story ..the music i wished for many years would be re sampled to a modern format ( that game's music is so addictive i found myself riding that worm for hours )

An old-school RPG that aged rather well considering. Very simplistic gameplay that consist with your average RPG. Go to all the locations and talk to all the people. As well as hints of RTS mixed in.

As you grow your number of Fremen troops. Traning them as an Army will open up, and you'll need to equip, train and send said troops to fight Harkonnen fortresses.

I personally only ever saw the Combat ending. Meaning the one where you conquer each Harkonnen fortress and make your way to their palace. But there is seemingly another ending using Ecology. But I never managed to make it work. A future goal it is.

If you want some gameplay footage, I have a gameplay video on Youtube:

if you are having problems running this one honestly look for the sega cd rom of dune the graphics and audio are much improved and run using kgen. Dos box version is fine but there are some issues.

Seriously wish they would release HD remaster, or even Dune II based on this format (not Westwood), maybe it's nostalgia, but I'd love to play something like this again - played this through 5 times already since I was 14 years old, such a timeless classic.

Oh and Soundtrack is quality!

Great game, great soundtrack, enjoyed this one a lot when I was young. I love the original film and this is closer to it than the other Dune games.

What a wonderfull game, I keep playing it over and over again. Unfortunately the game is predictable... If you want to add some difficulty to the game then spend time in the dessert alone when the lady Jessica tells you to... The sooner you move into the dessert the harder it will be to please the Emperor with enough spice...

This is one of the best games I have ever played. At a time when there was virtually no 3D and we were using 486 machines, the graphics and sound where out of this world. Cruising the sands of Arrakis in an onithopter was an experience. Not bad for a strategy game. I noticed nobody dare to do a remake because the bar is set very high by this game. Faithful to the first book, some creative license here and there. A must for DOSbox.
