Man, I didn't even realize that I missed this game until today. This was SOOO cool. I had plenty of flight sim games back in the day, but this one was probably the most realistic.

You could eject and land with a parachute.

This was so cool at the time because Chuck Yeager's AFS and F-15 and Falcon had zero indication of a human pilot. But this, THIS had a guy in a parachute that you could relate to.

I am about to get cracking with this in DosBox and I can't wait! But I had to mention the parachute thing first.

...First game I ever pirated. Also the first game I ever bought, although it was ten years afterwards, and the price was $10 in a markdown bin at some software & RPG store in a mall. Great thing about this flight sim is that you could load the early scenery disks for Micro$oft's Flight Simulator. The only one worth loading, tho, was the Cape Canaveral disk, which had all the gantries of "MIssile Row" up so you could zig zag through them, starting with Pad 5 and going all the way up to LC39A, where a Shuttle stack was on the pad ready to launch.

...The trick was to come in full throttle low on the deck, and then when you get about 100 yards from the base of the pad, you pull back HARD on the stick, go 90 straight up, then reverse your view to check your 6. You'll see that great view of looking back on the pad as you ascend, just like the footage you see all over YouTube of the various Shuttle launches withthe cameras on the SRBs! If you did it just right, your jet would make it to about Angels 140 before the engine flamed out and you began your attempts to break out of a nice fun roung of inertial coupling :)

...If anyone from Sublogic's reading this who worked on this program, you have my eternal thanks for this one. I played it on every PC from my Jr up to my first P5, and I still have the 5.25" floppy, manual and box on the shelf. It was far better than M$FS was at the time, and is still more fun than the fancydancy photorealistic FlightSim of today due to the simple fact that with Jet 2.0 you could BLOW THINGS UP!! So again, if you worked on this project, you done did good, son!
