Description of StarQuest: Rescue at Rigel

One of Epyx' earliest RPGs ever made for PC, Rescue at Rigel is a simplistic science fiction RPG where you are given only 60 minutes to find and transport the 10 human captives from an alien moonbase to the rescue ship. Your adversaries include the hostile Tollahs, two types of armed robots, a six-legged cerbanth, and a huge amoebic slug.

Gameplay is very similar to Temple of Apshai, another early dungeon crawl from Epyx. You basically explore the moonbase, kill any alien you come across, and collect better weapons along the way. Very simple, but it does show off Epyx' pioneering streak in making graphically appealing RPGs that were ahead of the pack at the time. The time limit also adds to the challenge, although the game isn't as difficult as you would think.

Doesn't stand the test of time as well as Temple of Apshai or Rogue, but anyone looking for a truly early, simple RPG should take a look.

The alien leader was called the "High Tollah". Ayatollah, get it?

It's a challenging game.
Here's the list of commands for the game, enjoy :-)

COMMANDS

Altogether there are 16 commands available to you for maneuvering
your character through the alien complex and accomplishing your
quest. These are discussed under three major headings: Movement,
Combat, and Special Commands. Tables 1-3 summarize these
commands and their meanings, and each is described in the following
paragraphs. Note that none of these commands should be followed
by a carriage return; type only the appropriate key. As a visual aid,
the computer will briefly display, in the lower right-hand corner of the
screen, the letter command you enter. Generally (except for P, which
must be followed by a number), you should wait until this letter
disappears before entering another command. This will prevent
confusion and the possible loss of a command due to trying to enter
too many commands too quickly.
