OMG, I really loved this as a kid. I remember playing this in my bedroom, lights out, and just letting my imagination run wild, pretending I was really a fighter pilot in space.

I think that is one thing that the graphical limitations of the day encouraged, imagination. The graphics couldn't present everything, so your imagination filled in the gaps unlike modern games.
