Description of Turrican II: The Final Fight

Ok, let's face it: Factor 5's Turrican II was one of the best games to see its light on the Amiga and is probably the best action game ever produced on any platform.

4 years(!) after the initial Amiga release, Rainbow Arts released the IBM-PC version of this classic shooter with very little fanfare. How does it compare to the Amiga game? Well, surprisingly not that bad at all. Scrolling is ultra-smooth, gameplay is nearly as good as in the original game, and the graphics - though slightly changed to the Amiga game - are great. I can't tell about the music as I didn't get the music to work on my PCI soundcard, but I suppose Sun-Project used a TFMX playing routine to reproduce the original Amiga music on the IBM-PC port and that, of course, would be great as the music was one of the best ever heard in a computer game. Two thumbs up, way up!

I managed to get better quality Sound using Sound blaster 16 44100khz.

Configure SoundBlaster16 with port 220 irq7 dma5.

I use DBGL for DOS games, as it makes everything easier. Here is the latest version.

Use to play this on the Amiga but the PC version is much better. Higher resolution gfx, the sound + sfx is VASTLY better.
Softgold did a good job on this

Rename the CFG directory to "TURRICAN" then you have the full menu after starting the t2.exe

For sound use the "Sound Blaster Pro" with DMA=1

I agree with GOLDILOX, Amiga was much better. Anyone that would throw an Amiga away for a PC is an idiot THABEST.

Problems with the sound?
When game starts, and menu "options" comes up, press cursor up so the bar is as far up as it can. Press the crsr key down 3 times and press enter.
Now you can select the sound card. Choose Soundblaster and you'll get sound.
REMEMBER TO GET THE BASE, DMA AND IRQ RIGHT!!!!!!!!
-If choosing one of the other SB cards, you'll miss sound channels, but better quality sound ... STRanGe
The game does NOT do this on old hardware, so I guess this have something to do with DOS Box

Would the game work under Win 10 Pro??
I had way much fun playing it on my Amiga500 back in the day.

where do you go to change the cfg folder name

stealth_banana 2017-05-20 2 points DOS version

For anyone still having problems with the DOS version of Turrican II, just rename the "CFG" folder in the game's directory to "TURRICAN". After that just launch the T2.EXE file and you're all set!

Awesome game on the Amiga 500 but not on the PC.
