For small DOS games like Cadaver, you can play online immediately with your browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Internet Explorer...). This feature is still experimental, the game may not work properly. Warning: game save should work, but you should try it early! Also, be careful to select the right game executable in the list below.

Emulator configuration

You have to choose the right game executable, then press PLAY.

To exit fullscreen mode, press escape. Playing experience can be poor due to your browser or your computer. Download Cadaver and launch it with DOSBox to have the best playing experience!

If the game is too fast or too slow, try hitting CTRL-F11 (slower) and CTRL-F12 (faster).

Game doesn't seem to work. Get graphic artifacts and character disappears and none of the controls work. Does this run on only 32 bit systems?

you have to throw the pick axe to break down the wall blocking the passage. You have to run jump to knock things off barrels. I remember this game when it first came out, it was ground breaking. I don't remember the controls being so confusing though!

Here's some more info I found out that may help (some of which isn't adequately documented in the manual):

Press SPACE to get past the scrolling info text when the game starts.

F1 to open map
END to close map

F5 to save (costs a coin)
F6 to load

SPACE game brings up some kind of quick inventory management
(seems harder to use than just using ENTER to bring up inventory/"rucksack" though maybe)

Oh, and also, it turns out that the two links to the manuals I posted earlier actually differ. The plain text one has a bunch of storyline stuff that the fancier one doesn't have for example. Both seem to be for Amiga and not DOS, so the windows version used here is a bit different than they describe.

Oh, and one more thing, since I struggled to figure out how to play too, even with the manual:

It appears that the following is the default settings for the keyboard bindings, from what I can tell from my own newbie understanding:

END key: general action key
(when touching an item: END switches to icon/action select mode... press END again to do the selected action)
(when not touching an item: END performs the action associated with the currently active/equipped item, e.g. such as throwing the item )

Hence e.g. END twice in rapid succession grabs an item from the floor.

ENTER key: brings up your inventory menu so you can select from items you are carrying

UP key: move up-right
DOWN key: move down-left
RIGHT key: move down-right
LEFT key: move up-left
UP+LEFT or INSERT: move up
DOWN+RIGHT or PAGE DOWN: move down
UP+RIGHT or PAGE UP: move right
DOWN+LEFT or DELETE: move left

That should give you enough basic info to start playing.

It confused me a lot too. Lots of old games have really poorly communicated/designed controls.

Here's a link to a manual page for how to play the game:

And, here's another (in plain text) in case the other one goes dead:
