Notes:

• The game should work fine on modern systems, it was tested on Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 10 and Windows 11. If the game doesn't work - run it in Compatibility mode with old Windows (like Windows XP) and as Administrator. If you have any technical issues, we recommend to check forums of the game
• The game works on DirectX 9, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
• Knytt Stories has a lot of mods, the biggest of them are Knytt Stories+ by Tim McDowell and Knytt Stories Extended by Sergey Rozhenko. Both mods are aim to upgrade the original Knytt Stories for modern systems by adding extra features and better compatibility with modern systems, check the websites of mods for more details. • The game has a Level Editor, so fans made many custom levels, you can find most of them in this mega archive with all custom levels, on KnyttLevels, KnyttArchive, Knytt Stories+ websites or official forum. If you want, you can create your own custom levels in Level Editor, here's the video tutorial how to use the Level Editor
• Fans of the game are currently working on implementation of Knytt Stories in the Godot engine, the project is called YKnytt. It is an open source implementation of Knytt Stories in C# and features the constant 60 FPS, support for Knytt Stories+ and level downloader, along with bugfixes and optimizations. YKnytt project is in active development and it is currently available for Windows, MacOS, Linux and Android systems; we recommend to check GitHub page for future updates
