Description of 4th & Inches

One of the earliest American football games to boast player animations, 4th and Inches is one of the first football games to offer a good blend of action and in-game strategies. You can throw the bomb, run the sweep, call the blitz, and exercise other common tactics in the game. The lack of detailed statistics and typically fast matches make this a good diversion from more realistic football games.

The game's highlights are player substitutions, a good range of play selections, and fast action. The rare but superb Team Construction Disk add-on which you can download from this site makes a fun game even better: being able to edit team names and colors take the monotony of playing the same two teams away somewhat ;) Worth a look for football fans.

I am not a fan of American football, but I played and I really liked the gameplay and possibilities of moves for a 1988 game. The name Acollade is very strong in Old Games, and I will always play a game from this company knowing that it is pure fun!

I must admit i didn't know about it . It is very intriguing starting by the title itself ...lets you imagine the tension gathered in the 4th down, being pressed by turnover on downs. In match use directional arrow +Ins(ert) to what play fits player best.Be quick ,defensive team are quick to react ,almost like in reality.Ow and enjoy the "zen sound" :).Hope someday remaster these gorgeous gems.

Someone had a good time coming up with the player names.

DosBox 0.74 + Win7 - Works like a charm.

This doesn't mean I'm good at this game yet - but it seems to be working 100%.

I did kinda figure out that before a play - joystick or keyboard - use a direction (arrow) to pick out something from the mini list of options on the bottom left of the screen - then trigger or INS key (depends if using joystick or keyboard)

Anyway - this one doesn't seem to be a waste of time. It just depends whether you like it or not. It works great for me.

This game can't run without being into that Dos Box type of program.Tried to run it properly through Windows XP and didn't run properly.

Excellent game in its time. Real basic but tons of fun. Fond memories playing this back in its hayday.
