Here is the video game “Dogz: Your Computer Pet”! Released in 1995 on Windows 3.x, it's still available and playable with some tinkering. It's a simulation game and it was released on Mac as well.

I'm only getting Scrappy as a demo, and none of the other dog choices. :(

I remember training my Chip and they were really intelligent. I managed to teach them different commands based on how I moved the ball or treat and snapping the fingers. It had a really impressive AI for the time.
The sequel, Dogz 2, didn't pick my interest sadly. I think there was also Dogz 3.
And, along with Catz, there was also Oddballz for Win95, with monsters.
Back in the early internet days there was the community that also would edit the dogz files and make custom breeds, like Dalmatians. All you needed was the notepad and some trial and error.
Oh, this company is also behind the infamous fighting game Ballz for the SNes.
