I played this game on the Atari 520 STFM years ago brought back old memories. Always wished they would make a new version of this game. Then DM2 came out and it was even better, but man i wish they would make a game just like this for PC

Can I play it

I am literally moved by finding this!

I used to play Dungeon Master with a friend years ago on our Atari STs, I have to be honest, I can't actually remember "how" we did it - perhaps linked together over MIDI? That said, I honestly can't remember whether we then had two groups of 4 characters, or both controlled one group? No recollection of how it worked, but finding this and playing it again was a real trip down memory lane.

Being able to play this in a browser (Chrome) was quite something, and the fact that the Save Game actually worked is pretty cool. I remember us getting as far as some wizard kinda dude that used to phase in and out, appearing out of no where and blasting you with fire balls. Pretty sure we killed the dragon, I remember "Dragon Steaks"(?), but I dont think we ever beat him and actually won the game. It was like we got stuck in some kind of endless loop. Had to trap the dude in some kind of mesh or something from memory.

Anyway, whoever is responsible for making this available - THANK YOU - its brought back some wonderful memories from over 30 years ago. :)

For everyone attempting to play in a Chrome browser, try switching to MS Edge, if you have it. That's what worked for me.

Re: downloading and installing DosBox. I get as far as setting the MOUNT to the directory oldgames, however the file DUNGEO~1 is not an executable file, so will not run. I've downloaded it several times and am currently giving up unless someone has a solution.

When running in the browser (not DosBox app) I have serious sound issues, such as crackling, whining noises and other distortions. Total bummer. Since I am more than a novice DOS person, I wonder how often others get this to actually work? (you can go ahead and read that as I am old and played the original in DOS).

OK, so I have the game running in Chrome, saved after selecting heroes. Cannot figure out how to load the saved game on a restart. See the save game file but cannot get the pointer to move down to select RESUME....

Any ideas?

I never came across this game at all over the years, so I'm glad to discover It here on 'My Abandonware' as this has always been one of my favourite genres. For those who've mentioned audio Issues, tinkering with the sound options should sort out any problems, either on the game Itself or on your PC (or your particular platform). I had a little background Interference but otherwise the sound plays OK. Playing without sound Is not such a disaster, In any case. The game Itself plays perfectly well. I always keep track of movements by drawing a map on squared paper (like those In a school math-book, not 'graph paper'). It helps massively and saves a great deal of time. Simply draw round each square which corresponds to your direction of movement and leave notes for each square which contains anything of significance (enemies, objects, etc), so you'll never make the same mistake twice! I know that many fellow gamers of this genre will already use, or at least be aware of, this method, but It's surprising how many do not! Enjoy your games, guys!

Old secrets don't work in this version.
Cannot use the trick of duplicating items on level 2, or level 10. Game crashes.

Awesome memories! It was fun to play again. I got to the first door requiring a key and couldn't open it. Keys don't work?

Wow Dungeon Master is back, I love you. It was so scary to play it when I was 8 years old. Thank you so much for making this possible!

It's great but a bit pointless if you can't save your game.

Sound is not working despite mode used. Any suggestions? Otherwise great job and much appreciated.
