Description of The Bard's Tale Construction Set

When I run the My Abandonware version, all I get is a message saying "Unable to continue". However, I found another version in The Adventurers' Guild (https://bardstale.brotherhood.de), and that works perfectly. Comparing the two, it looks like the one from My Abandonware is missing loads of files. So, that'll be why it's not working properly.

Supposedly the program was intentionally crippled so people couldn't duplicate the original games (it was a rush job anyway). The sample scenario is Much more difficult than the other entries. Have a look at some of the scenario's data... I've concluded that there's no shame in cheating here. But you can't edit the scenario data in-program.
Also, there's a serious bug: don't know if it's in dosbox or BTCS, but having a bard play a song can cause a crash-to-desktop. It's happened to me more than once.
There's a Windows remake, but development is slow, and there hasn't been an update since May of last year. http://www.identicalsoftware.com/btbuilder/

This was a fun little program! Way back in my senior year of high school (1992), me a couple friends constructed our entire school from an old map used for fire drills, complete with various battles against the entire school faculty who used weapons such as "disgusting school lunches" with the object to defeat the entire staff and retrieve the golden diploma. It remained popular on the computer lab computers for several years after. Probably would get us suspended and investigated by the authorities these days as slaying the entire school faculty is frowned upon. We grew up in a more innocent time I guess.

Well... Its not as good as unlimited adventures but it just passes muster I suppose.
FRUA has been remade FYI. They got a newer version online. OH! There's even a version of Dungeon Master for Java that can make maps! I don't have the links right now though.
Bards tale was a great game. I would still download this.

This was a serious letdown. It's not even robust enough to reproduce the first game, let alone later ones in the series. TSR's Unlimited Adventures was a little better, but not much.

No Ideas - The version offered here doesn't work. The following is a version from my Ultimate RPG Archive CD http://s000.tinyupload.com/?file_id=43646743673193116910 You will need 7zip (free) to open the archive. After extracting the contents to a folder start btcs.exe and it should work just fine.

I've been trying to get the construction set to run, but every time I type btcs.exe, a screen comes up that reads "Unable to continue", which then boots me back to DOS. Does anyone know what I have to do to start constructing?
