Is there another iteration of this game?? I played it on my Macintosh computer in the late 80s. The background was white, all items on the screen were black. The beasts were actual little ghost-like creatures, not ASCII text. I've never played this black-and-green version, but it's literally the exact same game.

This didn't originate in 1984. I played an earlier version of this in high school 1980-81. No options, person was maybe an O, beast was maybe an asterisk. Could play with the source code in BASIC to change it a little. Perhaps the credited authors did this and marketed it, or perhaps they actually wrote the original, I dunno. But its at least 3 or 4 years older than 1984.

You can adjust the speed on DOSBOX mate. Ctrl+Shift+F11 will lower the number of CPU cycles being emulated per tick. Most games from this time run best at around 300 cycles.

This moves way too fast!! Back in the day it didn't move this fast. It is impossible to play.
