Description of QuarterPole

Good to Firm and Quarterpole are two of the better horseracing games available on the market.

Both Good to Firm and Quarterpole are full-fledged stable management game that lets you control every aspect of the trade, from buying horses and training them to entering them in the race and betting big money :) Quarterpole is arguably the best horseracing game ever produced (at least until Action Games' own follow-up, Quarterpole Plus). The game offers a staggering array of options and great graphics. Good to Firm is less known, but is also a solid simulation of day-to-day management without Quarterpole's bells and whistles.

I didn't have success with the files here. Not sure if something is missing or not. What I did have success with is this: I downloaded DOSBox, which you'll need to run it. It wouldn't run properly on my Win95 computer emulator that runs most of my old games. I also picked up the version of the QuarterPole files that are located here:
Unzip the download directly into c:/games/qp (like suggested in the other comment here)
Type these commands:
mount d c:\games\qp\QuarterP\floppy
It will launch the install and it might give you an error about modifying config but that won't matter, or didn't for me. It installed regardless. I restarted the DOSBox and then mounted different folder:
mount d c:\games\qp\QuarterP\floppy\QPOLE
After that is successfully mounted, just type
It will launch because that's the name of the exe within the folder. Hope this helps for all who are interested!

You need to use mount or subst to make the game think it is installed from root dir. Its programmed to install from floppy, but you can use any letter you want. For me drive d works. So i added Mount d c:\games\qp and DOSBox started with drive d: and this path mounted. But first you have to put all installation disk in this path. Thats all. Start dosbox change drive to d and type install.

Best game I ever played. I wish someone would update this game to todays computer standards. I use to play this game for hours and still would.

When trying to download it says something to the effect that this is not the original file or just a copy and won't let me install it using the DOSbox
