Abandonware Racing / Driving games
If you want the satisfaction of competing against other opponents on a racing circuit, this genre offers an ideal challenge. Alternatively, you can compete against the clock and challenge yourself to set your own records.
Utilising a first or third person perspective, racing games have been an ever present genre featuring the sub-genres of arcade racers and racing simulators. Typically, arcade racers will feature lenient physics, limited damage and encourage high speed exaggerated racing. Simulators, by contrast, will attempt to convey a more realistic experience.
While racing games offer a range of vehicles, driving games will feature motor vehicles and usually offer an open world experience. The Grand Theft Auto games and Carmageddon are the most well-known examples of such games.
