Description of Fascination

Fascination is, thank goodness, the last game in Coktel / Tomahawk's short-lived line of risque, mature-themed adventures that began with Emmanuelle.

Aside from its eye-catching "mature" label, the game is a rather mundane story about a business man who has invented a chemical drug that increases the sex-drive. Unfortunately he was assassinated, and you accidentally get hold of the drug sample. Your mission, naturally, is to try to deliver the sample to the right person and avoid being made out as the murderer.

For starter, you play a woman in this game-- a fact that won't make any Roberta Williams fans raise eyebrows, but in this case it seems as if the designer made the choice only as an excuse to flaunt mildly erotic, useless scenes such as you taking a shower. Another big problem is that you can't do much that's not related to the story, and there's no going back, so if you forget to snap a paper in the hotel, you have to restore an old save. This is made worse by the fact that some puzzles are not very logical, and it can takes hours to find the solutions.

Apart from these gripes, Fascination is a good murder mystery, with interesting plot and some good puzzles. Beware of pixel-hunting, and save your game often if you want to finish this quirky game.

Goddamn, this is terrible.
From what Pliskin said, I thought that the other dude was just being oversensitive, but this game actually has legitimate game design flaws and unlikable characters.

This game needs to be removed from this site, nobody should be subjected to this piece of shit.

This game was a free download and I still think I'm entitled to a refund.

These "Reviews" (i.e. one review that has anything negative to say about the game) are not criticizing the game because of its "mature content".
Leisure Suit Larry is a filthy game, but the puzzles are engaging and the humor is witty.
This game has the some of the worst writing I've ever seen and littered with the dumbest puzzles to ever grace an adventure game.

Yeah, it's dirty, I don't mind that, the fact that the game sucks bothers me.

Who are writing these reviews? Some SJW? Religious fundie? You are criticising the game just because of the mature content? Get lost. Keep your morality out of the reviews and review these games objectively, please.

This is the worst game I have every played, adventure or otherwise.
The puzzles are stupid, the dialogue is written like a shitty porno comic and the interface gets confusing.
You can die just by talking to someone at the wrong time.

I love adventure games to death, but it's like a group of people sat down, thought of the most immature sexual sexual situations, slapped some crappy puzzles and creepy art and called it a game.

Don't play this if you value your time.

Ran the install and put it into the archive, it will be simpler to play

Tchort 2011-06-29 2 points DOS version

You have to use the INSTALL command first. This will create a directory "FASCI" (by default C:\FASCI) and copy/create all the required files (all.ask, disk0.stk, disk1.stk, disk2.stk, disk3.stk, go.bat, loader.exe, tira.imd, tirb.imd) into this dir.

I've tested this with Boxer for Mac, which is just a fancy frontend for DOSBox. First I thought the game would hang during install, but after incrementing the cycles (on Mac "CMD + Up") to a whole bunch it worked.

After the game is installed into c:\FASCI the game can be started via the batch file GO.BAT, which leads to a question, which soundcard to use. As always Soundblaster might be the best choice.

There is no DISK0.STK in the archive.

admin 2008-05-19 0 point DOS version

Try to emulate a floppy disk with the image (DISK0.STK) mounted in. See the howto for more information.

Hi,

There seems to be something wrong with the game files. It keeps saying something about DISK0.STK in French when I run the game. I think the file might be missing.
