I've only ever gotten this game to work on either the original Win98 machine I first played it on... or a full-on x86 90s PC emulator like 86Box.
Note, needs 256 color minimum, and its full install is like 400+ MB. Forgot what size harddrives were in use back then and installed Win98 OEM Full on a 520MB disk the first time, which was non-ideal.
Also note that some video cards or whatever such components don't come with default drivers in the OS isos, so it might be worth running the settings selections against online guides or an LLM.
But it works! Finally.
