Getting this game to run is very frustrating. Unsurprisingly, it fails to install and/or run on Windows 10 & 11. However, the game even fails to run properly on virtual Windows 95 & 98 machines! However, I believe I have found a way to reliably run this game. Please see the steps below:

First, Install Windows XP 32-Bit inside virtual box by using this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7NJupnHcxpE

  • If for some reason Internet explorer cannot download the Firefox installer on the guest machine, download the installer on the host machine and set up a virtual folder for the guest machine.
• You can install Firefox through that method and then install Winrar 32-bit* Version: 5.4.0 https://www.winrarfree.net/winrar-for-winxp.html#google_vignette
  • The reason for this link instead of the official Winrar site is because the 32-bit installer there isn't recognized by Windows XP as a 32bit application
• Download DxWind 32-bit on your guest machine: https://sourceforge.net/projects/dxwnd/
  • This program is intended to launch the game with some tweaks if needed.

Now, virtually insert the Respect Inc iso to the guest machine. The reason for this is because Respect-Inc excepts the CD to be in Drive D. Install Respect-Inc on the guest machine as well for the Direct X.
NOTE: The NoCD crack that it comes with doesn't work.

Next, share the folder that RespectInc is installed on host as a virtual folder to the guest machine like so: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lNl_GSa4rbw&t=281s

Create a shortcut on the guest machine that targets the game's executable on the host machine. The reason for running the game from the host machine is that if you run the game that's installed on the guest machine, it'll run terribly, like if it was a PowerPoint slideshow.

Launch the game and you should be able to play the game.

Please note the following:

• The CD music does not play.
  • There's no known fix for this at this time.
• The highlighting in the game's menu is flashing fast!
  • While harmless, you could try using DxWind to launch the game to hopefully correct the game's timing here.
• The game is running very slow!
  • You are running the game that's installed on your Virtual Windows XP instead of from your host machine.
• The game is very dark, lacking water textures, the buildings seem to lack textures and/or be somewhat transparent!
  • There is no known fix for this at this moment, although I'm trying to find out a way to correct this.
