This runs SimIsle on Windows 11!!

This link gives you the game with a optimized 'Play Now.EXE' that has config files that pre-configures Dosbox to optimize the settings to work on modern systems.
Just extract the zip, enter the folder you extracted.
BEFORE YOU RUN!
Some systems with high resolutions have a blank screen after the title sequence and it crashes.
In this case, right click on 'Play NOW.exe' and enter 'properties' and choose the 'compatibility' tab. Click on the the little box that says 'Run in 640 x 480 screen resolution'.
This should make it run perfectly.
Enjoy the nostalgia! ;)

This and SimTower were two of my first games when I got a home pc.
I think I've still got the manual somewhere. Interesting game.
A tip: IF you are trying to build or do something in the jungle where your agents can't go, first you can send an agent who is able to explore the jungle, then click the other agent onto that agent.
So if Ted is a builder, and Jeff is the explorer. Send Jeff to the jungle/forest part you want to build in, then send Ted to Jeff by click on him when you pick the move action

There is a little bit of a problem of the game supposedly not being able to find the res file, despite it being in there, not sure what's causing it

@C, it works perfectly in DOSBox. It also has 16-bit Windows setup files which will work with Windows '95, not modern flavors of Windows.

I never figured out how to avoid bankruptcy when I played this twenty years ago, except in the tutorial level. Which means SimIsle feels more difficult than some new release games in this genre do on their highest difficulty setting. I hope I'm up for the challenge!

It works. You must mount the game to c: and d: , and then run
INST.EXE from D drive and install it on C.
Note that if you restart dosbox you must again , mount the game on both drives in order to play. Seems it has some kind of copyright protection.

Although this game says it's a DOS-version, it isn't. Will not work in DOSBox -- there is no executable file for the game itself in the included download, only an install file, which cannot be installed to the same directory and thus will not work.
