Forgot to mention, did you copy the ISO file to a DVD? The file is an ISO file so cannot be played directly from the file, it needs to be copied to a DVD using a suitable program. You can get Ashampoo Burning Studio 2022 for free (no strings attached) via Shareware on Sale:
that supports ISO files.
Hope this helps; especially if you like squad based games. As I mentioned in my first comment I love this game. It was the second Vietnam game I ever purchased (Line of Sight Vietnam was the first (not free, can be found on Steam for £6.99 when not on Sale. If you like stealth based shooters, Line of sight will sate your appetite. Even though it's a little dated graphically, it still keeps me on the edge of my seat when playing it.:

Try right clicking on the games exe or shortcut to the exe file, then select settings. When this window opens click on the compatibility tab and check the box titled Run this program in compatibility mode for. This will ungrey the selection field below. click on the drop down arrow and select one of the XP selections.
If this doesn't fix the issue try some of the other settings (below the OS change selector) such as Run in 640x480, disable full-screen optimization etc.
p.s. did you watch the video posted by Nickname Here i.e.:

This is still one of my favourite Vietnam games together with Battlefield Vietnam, Men of Valor and Vietcong (I've still got my hard copies). All released within a couple of years of each other.
Conflict Vietnam is different to the others because it's its a squad based game much like Full Spectrum Warrior and its sequel Ten Hammers and later games like Tom Clancy's Advance Warfighter I & II. The graphic is a little dated, but that's only to be expected in a game seventeen years old. Too be honest, the images provided on this page do not do the game justice. I played this only a few weeks ago and while in game it's very immersive and looks better than the images purport.
I love first part of the game where, once you've completed the initial walk around the Forward operating base and had a go on the ranges, you are called to one of the defence posts on the perimeter where you can mount a light machine gun or use your weapon. If you are shot and incapacitated, you can swap between any of the other three characters in your squad. Repel the VC for a while, then you are called to the final redoubt as the camp is overrun. You have to get there first, then once there defend yourself and to complete the defence destroy a couple of tanks that turn up. On completion of this mission you'll then have a patrol to complete where you go to a village suspected of harbouring VC. Apart from the defence of the FOB my other favourite mission is when you are on patrol on one of the river boats and have to stay alive until arriving at your destination. This part is more like a rail shooter, but is still very enjoyable.
Brilliant game that I was surprised to see here together with most of the other Conflict titles. Sadly the developer (pivotal Games) of these titles were closed down in 2008
