Kind of stupid I can't download the Amiga version because the DOS version is on sale at GoG, where I already bough it.

Take the link to GOG Games, (one of the links is to Heroes of Might and Magic2 strategy game, which is very good especially HOMM 3 Complete), it is ONLY $9.99 for the first 6 Might and Magic games. (I really liked 6). No hassles, No DRM and easy to run!

FYI: the largest unsigned integer that can be represented in 8-bits is in fact 255. Makes sense from a computer science POV that you'd "advance" back to level 1.

Lvl 255 rollover? Memory issues in 8 bit computers, I bet. Just like the kill screens in early arcade games.

Yes!! I reached lvl 255, too. Only to discover the protections and the behavior (the accuracy and the number of attacks hits) dropped as the characters were lvl 1 :s
Maybe its a bug (the developer never tough anyone could reach that level) or a joke?!
Anyway, I completed the game (again), with a party overpowerful of eigth lvl 250 (I stopped on this level to avoid the "bug/joke") and they became true Gods of War!!!!
Can defeat anything and everything the game throw at you at this level!!
Its the game I spend more consecutive hours playing (13,5 hours) on my entire life!!

I played the heck out of this game back in the day, so much that it almost caused me to fail 9th grade! Me and a couple friends would spend hours mapping all the dungeons and working on the quests. Even after I finally solved the game I kept playing and found out, much to my dismay, that once they hit Level 255 your character all flip back over to Level 1! I'm guessing I'm one of the few people that ever found that out by sheer time played and not by using a single cheat.

Fixed the 2-step freeze by setting CGA in the DOSbox options/conf files...but it forces the game into the low color mode (pinks and teals!)...anyone know a solution for full color without freezing at every dialogue?

I have this game installed using d-fend, but every time I go to start it it opens and then closes, is there a forum I can consult for this?

Superior to the original Might and Magic though still mired in many of the problems and limitations of the time period. This game was a master piece, and an example of brilliant designers doing a lot with a little.
Be warned: This game requires a level of patience and dedication not commonly found in today's gamer.
