Description of The PDP-10 Timesharing World Series

Retrogamer Benedict kindly shared this very old "game":

Oh, it’s a very old text based game (From the 60s) I obtained from a source code, it’s called the PDP-10 Timesharing World Series created in January 13th, 1965 for the old PDP computer system. It’s actually one of the very first games written in BASIC Programming Language. However, I slightly revised it so that it could operate under a DOS based operating system (Also able to run on DOSBox) and could be compatible to run on modern devices (Using emulator).

The game allows the user to simulate a game of baseball on the computer. The player's input is limited to picking a random number between 1 and 1000 after which the game is played out. The two teams (Dodgers and Yankees) will bat it out. Based purely on chance the baseball players will hit singles, doubles or home runs, steal a base, be safe or out. Each event is printed to the screen and at the end a winner is announced.

Hello, VIDEO GAME ENJOYER, might as well not play the game if you don't like it. Plus, its from the 60s, what would you expect?

Hi Benedict here again, this is how to run:

DOSBox is needed to run the game as this game was revised for DOS, to run this game, simply execute the program titled BASICA and once the program is open, type RUN”TIMESHAR.

The download also contains an instruction manual on how to run the game

Wow, now that's what I call retro. A proper curio.
