Zone 66
DOS - 1993
Description of Zone 66
1993, the year Zone 66 was released on DOS. Made by Renaissance and published by Epic MegaGames, Inc., Moon Doggie, this action game is available for free on this page.
Mark Peterson sent us a patch : I created a patch that allows Mission 2: Ice Wind in Zone 66 to be completed. It fixes that infamous 'indestructable' target in the lower left. This is the first and only true patch for fixing that bug!

Hey People, hoping someone can help me. I am looking for a game very similar to Zone 66. I have been searching forever for this game and Zone 66 looks like the closest to it. Same gameplay mechanics as Zone 66 but I remember the graphics being a little better (richer colors, more detailed sprites etc.), although I may be wrong on this as it has been so long. I do remember a rather in-depth HUD that surrounded the screen and showed your weapons vehicle types etc. I also remember that the map was black and would reveal as you moved around it similar to fog-of-war in AoE. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Oh yes, can 't believe I actually found this one! Had it on a floppy when I was a kid, but did't remember the name or anything. Had so much fun with it! Thank you!

Disregard my last comment about losing my old backups; looks like my patched file is already part of the archive : )
The fixed file is MAPBDAT2.DAT

Damn, my patch is gone and my DoS backups were lost. I'll try to remake it.

There was no "C64 port". the basic gameplay is based on a 1984 game by Will Wright called "Raid On Bungeling Bay" for the C64.

...The Commode-Door 64 port of this was actually a lot more fun. Control response to those cheap C64 joysticks was actually better than anything available for the IBM at the time!
