Sgt.McHale is right, you need to download the NoCD French file to play with English version

It seems the NoCD crack for the French version also works for the English version, and I guess it'll work for other versions as well.

None of the other NoCD cracks I downloaded from other sites work for the game. They all contain no instructions and just one file named ws2help.dll and no such file is even in the game.

Keeps asking for the CD rom. Even when I have it mounted, there's a crack folder with one file inside but I have no idea where I'm supposed to put it.
