Found the fix finally. And yes, the videos are the problem, they're always the problem with most games before 2010.
After installing k-lite codec, re-convert the mpg videos in the videos folder (THEPATHOFTHEGAME\Game\videos) with some software like xmedia recode it's free, and make sure that k-lite codec it's configured to play mpg videos. That's it.
The nocd works by the way.

I found a nocd for it, but even with the disk image mounted all I get when launching it is a black screen. There's no PCGamingWiki article either. Can anyone help?

Work flawlessly, if you keep mounting ISO or find a no-cd some where.
