Here is the video game “Fritz 8”! Released in 2002 on Windows, it's still available and playable with some tinkering. It's an educational and strategy game, set in a chess and math / logic themes.

How to play Fritz 8 Windows

The game should work fine on modern systems, tested on Windows 10. If the installation doesn't start - run Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old Windows, like Windows 98, and as administrator. If the installed game doesn't start - run it in compatibility mode with old Windows OS, like Windows XP.

Second CD of Fritz 8 is Talk CD, it includes audio lessons, you must have that disc in virtual drive if you want to play with audio lessons. The game was using protection with Read Errors, so if the game doesn't start - use the NoCD, you'd be able to play the game but without audio lessons

Notes:

Looks like that the online matches are still working, so if you have a working serial key, you can play against live players. It seems that Russian version of the game may have issues with connection to multiplayer game, according to comments in this thread
Deep Fritz 8 is the version of Fritz for multi-core processors and supports CPUs with one to eight cores. Deep Fritz is a "parallel" release of Fritz, the first release of Deep Fritz was with the release of Fritz 6, it has the same content as the regular Fritz, but with better positional understanding and additional endgame knowledge
Fritz 8 WM Edition was the special release of Fritz 8 on the occasion of the First Official World Chess Championship Man vs. Machine in virtual reality between Kasparov and X3D-Fritz. WM Edition has new 3D-graphics, better AI and an improved Fritz engine
