How to play Fritz Chess 11 Windows
The game should work fine on modern systems, tested on Windows 10. If the installation doesn't start - run Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old Windows OS and as administrator. If the installed game doesn't start - run it in compatibility mode with old Windows OS, like Windows XP
Notes:
- Your antivirus may trigger on the disc of English version because of Skidrow.exe, it showed many generic warnings. It is "trash" file left by scene releaser Skidrow, it does nothing, just ignore it. That disc is safe to use, all installation files are clear
- It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
- The game works on DirectX 9, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
- For unknow reason, the English version has a bug when the database is not loading. Luckily, the German version has 2 languages, German and English, so if you have troubles - install the German version and select English language in Options (Optionen)
- Fritz 11 WM Edition was the special release of Fritz 11 on the occasion of World Chess Championship 2008 and the match between two strongest chess players of that time, Vladimir Kramnik and Vishy Anand. Compared to the regular version, the WM Edition includes extra materials: the video about two world champions and their playing styles, and two special opening books with repertoires of the World Championship candidates
- Deep Fritz 11 is the version of Fritz for multi-core processors and supports CPUs with one to eight cores. Deep Fritz is a "parallel" release of Fritz, the first release of Deep Fritz was with the release of Fritz 6, it has the same content as the regular Fritz, but with better positional understanding and additional endgame knowledge
- Setup for Deep Fritz 11 is "unofficial", the installer is on Russian. But the installed game has two languages, English & Russian. We included text-file with installation instruction in the archive

a good sparing GUI with the various rated game options and engines, the engines can off course be incorporated with other UCI GUIs, I also like the sound effects and the jubilation when winning a game, At my local chess club I'm lucky if I get a nice cup of tea
