How to play Chessmaster 9000 Windows
Install the game, then install the patch 1.02a. After that, use the fix by beha_r which allows you to run the game on modern systems (copy and replace cm256.dll to the folder with installed game). Optionally install NoCD. The game with has been tested with patch 1.02a and fix by beha_r on Windows 7 64-bit, works with no problem.
How to run the game on 64-bit systems: set the game to compatibility mode with Windows XP or Windows 200, then launch the game. If nothing happens - open Task Manager and look for processes chessmaster.exe and rundll32.exe. Close Chessmaster 9000 process but don't touch rundll32.exe, then try to run the game again, it must work (don't forget to close rundll32.exe process after you finish playing).

Este juego es muy interesante y te hace pensar en cómo prevenir la calvicie por la caída del cabello, porque piensas demasiado, no hay cura efectiva y puede llevar a una calvicie crónica. Parece una broma, pero esta es la etapa final del ajedrez. Tenemos que encontrar un buen remedio, gracias

I think chess is in coins. Humans forever play in one face. Now I'm playing on another face: "Antichess". Computers are like fortres where the owner forgets to close the small door at the back. You must enter through this door. Forget the front, but I forgot the side door, and in the end I chose to breed donkeys, oh it's so beautiful

Habia un parche en forma de pescadito verde CM9000 OPK que servia para destrabar el motor The King 23.3 ya que salia una ventana negra diciendo Temporal the king despues respondia el motor unas 6 jugadas y se trababa quedaba congelado sin responder entonces apretaba el Patch-CmK9-opk.exe y se solucionaba el motor volvia a responder tengo windows 7 el archivo me lo baje en taringa pero ya no existe habia otro archivo en forma de pescado o cocodrilo era para destrabar el motor the king 3.33 lo tenia en un viejo disco duro samsumg que ya no funciona

if old games like "Chessmaster 9000" dont render properly @windows 10, just extract the 4 DLL files of the "dgVoodoo2" zip [under its "MS x86" folder] inside the installation folder of game. I tested this with both the "Fairlight CD images" & "GOG" versions of Chessmaster 9000 & it fixed both the 2D boards [newspaper] & 3D boards... cheers! :)

This game can run on Windows 10. There was a gog release in the past which has been taken down. So you can run the gog release as abandonware now.

It's now march 2024, i managed to install it on an old pc running windows10. no problems, but when i started playing i realized... why am I here all by myself when I can go online and play with a community of life players. Yep. closed the program and probably wont open it again. oh well.

I have installed it in Windows 8.1 and Windows 7. It works beautifully.
But I want to make the contents into a DVD for giving to my students (I am running a Chess School). Can someone guide me how to do that?

Install Windows XP in a virtual machine (VMWare, VirtualBox either one. Both are free). Then start up Windows XP and install Chessmaster 9000.

For some reason, I don't understand, the disk 2 download keeps getting BLOCKED. The PATCH, when clicked, does nothing, and the same for the FIX. Whats up? I'm running win 10 what do you think? I've had this game & love it, but couldn't use it on Win 10. I didn't have the patch or the fix so I just tossed it. BIG MISTAKE!!!

All this huffing about difficulty installing.
ISO's are not difficult to manage for most all.
I would have written an installer (.exe) for the ISO's, as I can.
Perhaps I will, if by popular demand.

Have this working on Win11 64 pro, you can try the following:
1) Get WinCDEmu and install it (https://wincdemu.sysprogs.org/download/)
1b) Forget about WinCDEmu for now.
2) Download all Chessmaster files to a local folder (I.e. C:\Chessmaster_9000\)
3) unzip CD1 and CD2 files to new folders (I.e. C:\Chessmaster_9000\Chessmaster_9000_CD1), same with the patchfile (1 file was not zipped as download I believe)
4) Delete the dowloaded zips, you dont need them anymore.
5) Open the folder CD1 , double-click the BIN file and use WinCDEmu to mount it to V: (or any other virtual drive letter).
6) Same for CD2, mount that one to W:
7) you now have 2 fake-cd-rom drives, you can open V: using explorer and search for Setup.exe , run it
8) When asked for CD2, refer to W:
9) after installing, do not run the game yet (just close it if you did, no biggy) de-mount V: and W: (eject them, should be on top of explorer), go to your installation folder of the installed game and copy-paste the earlier (downloaded and unzipped) patch-file in there, then run the patch.
10) Since the game was made for Windows 1958 , the program may act a tad goofy on first run; Try running from newly created destop icon (not sure but I think I mounted CD1 one more time) - I did NOT use the Chessmaster-fix-by-beha_r at all if I remeber correctly. Maybe rebooting your system is also a good idea.
11) After all that, I can run the program straight from a desktop-icon now (without mounting any CD's or whatever), works fine.

Can use poweriso to extract the files from bin/cue. Not necessary to change the file extension. Works on Windows 10. Didnt run patch or fix.

It's an image file of a disk, you need a virtual disk like daemon tools or WinCDEmu. You should be able to just mount it on newer Windows versions, try changing the file extension from bin to iso, then right click on the file and mount.
