First, 7zip is NOT better than winrar, second nobody ever paid for winrar, because you don't need to.

You don't need WinRar.
There are free and open source alternatives. 7-Zip, PeaZip. They are better than WinRar.
Also, you might need an Emulator to run the abandonware.
