How to play Axis & Allies: Iron Blitz Windows

The game works fine on Windows 9x/Me/2000/XP but running the game on modern systems might be troublesome. The best & most stable way to play the game - to use Virtual Machine with Windows 98 or WinXP

If you're playing on modern OS and have black screen or graphical glitches, like flickering, here's some advices:

  • try to disable DirectDraw acceleration during playing. You can do this as follows: Start -> Run -> dxdiag, in the window that appears, select the "Display" tab and turn off acceleration. Don't forget to turn it back on after finishing playing
  • also for Windows Vista/Windows 7 - disable Aero
  • try to use compatibility utilities for old games , like dgVoodoo or DXWnd

I purchased, on E-bay, Axis and Allies Iron Blitz computer game about 10 years ago. My old HP windows 7 laptop computer obviously won't normally play Axis & Allies because the game is designed for windows 98. But this A&A game was program to install 98 on my computer
whenever I played A&A. Its worked great for 10 years but now for some reason it won't let me save the game. We played the game were the USSR was part of the Axis countries. We thought IT be interesting to see what would happen if Stalin & Hitler along with Japan had stayed friends and took on the USA & UK. It made the game more challenging for the Allies. The beauty of the Iron Blitz version is the game was it would allow you to do this. But now that we can't save the games its not easy to play the game without taking a break. Any suggestions on what might be done to fix it. I've uninstalled the game then reinstalled it but it still won't save the game?
