History of the World
Windows - 1997
Description of History of the World
"A very faithful computer translation of the board game, this covered the course of civilization from 3000 BC to 1900 AD.
A quick-playing game, it divided history into seven epochs with each player drawing a new civilization every epoch (turn). Beware -- the Roman and British Empires have a tremendous effect and other plays must join forces to cut them down to size. If size isn't everything, then turn placement surely is." [excerpt from M. Evan Brooks' Homepage]
Overall, a fun game that will appeal to fans of the board game, but probably to "dry" for others.

Thanks to some very prompt action on the part of admin here to upload my provided file, the manual is now the correct one for the Windows computer game. Players of the physical boardgame should note that the reference tables at the end of the manual are handy for knowing the available Empires and Events, plus the map appended to the end has info about where and when Empires & Minor Empires appear (start land) and may dislodge your units.

Just a note that the “Manual” posted here is not for the computer game. It’s for the boardgame but not even the version that this game is based on, it’s for the 2001 Hasbro edition (which made significant changes particularly around unit numbers because of the introduction of plastic figures) not the 1993 Avalon Hill version. I have the original computer game and will perhaps scan the manual and see what’s required to upload.

For anyone who cannot run this game under Windows 10, try WineVDM (https://github.com/otya128/winevdm). All 16-bit games cannot normally under Windows 10 can be run by WineVDM. This is required for people who love old Windows 95 era games.
