TRAOD the adventure game is just a series of pre recorded game play videos with some interactive screens, where you have to make a choice with the DVD remote, calling this the abridged version is an understatement,it glosses over most of the actual game play, leaving the pivotal sections where you are actually playing the game limited to certain things,a such as talking to people as in the famous Janice section, which is vastly cut down, climb up a wall or input a code to open a door, pull a lever or perform a jump.
There's a part where you can go into your inventory and get items, which makes it feel like a real game, but these moments are rare,as mostly the 'game play' is a passive affair.
There's a play it safe,or go for i option that comes up when you need to do something, which in reality means, the play it safe option is where it just does the action for you,the go for it option means you have to memorize a sequence of arrow presses to achieve move or objective or Lara will die.
They used Nathan Macree's TR3 music weirdly, which is a strange decision,it slightly ruins the feel of the game, why they couldn't have just used the game music is a mistake really,as the whole project doesn't seem to have anything to to with Core Design.
A fun half an hour can be spent playing this but i got as far as the sewers level before i quit,it's of limited interest to anyone unless you're a huge Tomb Raider or AOD fan, otherwise it's not very good really, quite a let down and the use of Nathan Macree's score rather then Peter Connolly's music is just wrong!
Just go and play the original or get the new remastered version if you're really fussed...
