The game with NoDVD has been tested on Windows 7 64-bit, Windows 10 and Windows 11, it works with no problem. You may experience some small troubles when you play the game on modern systems, check our Guide and Notes for details.

Before installing the game, make sure to install PhysX Legacy Drivers. PhysX Legacy software required for the correct work of the game

Install & play guide (for ISO image of original DVD):

Mount the disc image. You will need the utility for mounting disc image files, like WinCDEmu, UltraISO, Alcohol 52%/Alcohol 120% or Daemon Tools Lite
Install the game (if autorun doesn't work - simply launch the installation from Setup.exe inside the disc). It is recommended to install the game not in default path, but in some other, non-system folder, like C:/Games/X-Men Origins Wolverine, so you won't have troubles with NoDVD or fixes. The installation path should have ONLY the English letters
After you installed the game, use NoDVD - simply copy Wolverine.exe from the archive and put it in X-Men Origins Wolverine/Binaries folder, agree to replace the original file
Open X-Men Origins Wolverine/Binaries folder and find Wolverine.exe. Right-click on Wolverine.exe -> Properties -> Compatibility -> Set "Run this app in compatibility mode with Windows XP" and "Run as Administrator"
Launch the game and play. If the game doesn't work in compatibility mode with Windows XP - try to launch it in compatibility mode with other version of Windows (Windows 95, 98, 2000, etc.)

If you have troubles with installation of the game, you can use one of two repacks: repack with smaller size features only the English version of the game, repack with bigger size is multilingual. Both repacks has simple installers and include the full game with NoDVD

Notes:

If the installation doesn't start - try to launch Setup.exe in compatibility mode with old version of Windows (98, 2000 or XP)
It is recommended to install all versions of Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable and NET Framework for the correct work of the game. Also it is recommended to install K-Lite Codec Pack for the correct work of in-game videos
And you will need PhysX for the correct work of the game, download & install PhysX Legacy Drivers before installing the game
The game works on DirectX 9, so if you're using Windows 8, 8.1, 10 or 11 - you need to enable DirectPlay: Go to Control Panel, and select 'Programs'. Select 'Turn Windows features on and off', click on 'Legacy Components' and check the box 'DirectPlay'. Select OK, once the installation is done, restart your computer
NoDVD is required for the launch because the game is using SecuROM DRM protection, which has some compatibility issues on modern systems. NoDVD "breaks" DRM protection and allows to play the game without the disc. If you see the error that there's not enough space on the hard drive when you copy NoDVD files - re-install the game in non-system folder, like D:/Games/X-Men Origins Wolverine, Windows Protection may block copying of files to system folders (like C:/Program Files or C:/Windows)
If you are have a problem when the game doesn't launch or loads too long - make sure that you installed PhysX Legacy drivers. If it didn't work - try to delete PhysX Legacy and install PhysX drivers from the disc or install old PhysX software following this guide step by step
Also, one user reported that installing PhysX Software 9.13.1220 helped to run the game, so try to delete all other PhysX drivers and install PhysX Software 9.13.1220. Optionally, if it didn't work, try the older versions of PhysX Legacy software, like 9.12.1031 or 9.10.0224 or others. If you installed PhysX Legacy drivers but the game still doesn't run, additionally try to use AGEIA PhysX dll-files from this archive
If you get the error about broken/missing binkw32.dll, NxCooking.dll or other dll-files - thay issue may happen if the installer didn't copy the required dll-files or copied them with error. We uploaded the archive with dll-files copied from the folder of installed game; simply extract all that dll-files to X-Men Origins Wolverine/Binaries folder to fix the issue. That archive also includes cudart32_60.dll and PhysXLoader.dll files that could be useful if you have troubles with PhysX Legacy software
If the game doesn't start after intro videos - try to disable intro videos, maybe it will help, here's the instruction how to do that. If the game crashes on pre-rendered cutscenes, you can disable that videos by following this instruction
For Windows 11 users: since Microsoft changed OS structure in Windows 11, some of old DirectX games doesn't work on Windows 11 even if the DirectPlay is enabled. If the game doesn't work - try to run the game through one of display wrappers. For example, you can use DXVK (Vulkan API translation layer) to make the game work through Vulkan API, it should help. That method can also be used on Windows 10 if the game doesn't run
The game supports widescreen and high resolutions, including UltraHD 4K, ultrawide and multi-display setups, but by default the maximum available screen resolution is 1920x1200. To enable higher screen resolution, you will need to edit ini-file of the game. You can set the desired screen resolution by editing WEngine.ini file in Documents/Wolverine/WGame/Config folder, and set the different FOV (Field of View) by editing WInput.ini in same folder. Check WSGF page for detailed instruction and example screenshots. Please note that some of screen resolutions are not supported, check Resolutions & Configurations on WSGF page
The game has many hidden graphics settings that you cannot select in the game menu, such an Anti-aliasing, Vertical Sync, Anisotropic filtering, High Res textures and others. However, you can enable and change that graphics settings by editing the same WEngine.ini file in Documents/Wolverine/WGame/Config folder, check PCGamingWiki page for instructions. We also added the detailed instructions in the archive with pre-configured WEngine.ini
The game has framerate cap at 62 FPS, but you can unlock the framerate by editing WEngine.ini file in Documents/Wolverine/WGame/Config folder - open that file in Notepad, go to the section [Engine.GameEngine] and set the line bSmoothFrameRate= to FALSE
If you don't know how to edit ini-files, you can download already edited WEngine.ini from our website and then simply replace the original WEngine.ini file in Documents/Wolverine/WGame/Config folder. Please note that that config-file has all graphics settings on the maximum, so if the game works too slow with the new config-file - delete WEngine.ini, then launch the game again and the game will automatically create new WEngine.ini with default settings
You cannot change the mouse sensitivity in the game but you can do it by editing BaseInput.ini file in Documents/Wolverine/WGame/Config folder. Open that file in Notepad and change MouseSensitivity=60.0 line - change the value to one that suits you. The higher the DPI, the lower the sensitivity should be set to prevent the mouse from spinning fast
Console versions of X-Men Origins: Wolverine received "Weapon X Arena" DLC containing "Custom Combat Arena", "Ladder Challenge" and "Environmental Simulator" modes. That DLC was never released on PC. If you want to play that DLC in PC version, install this mod
You can also find a lot of other mods for the game on ModDB or NexusMods, including graphical mods and new skins for Wolverine and other characters
The game has controller support so you can play the game with gamepad. The game was tested with Xbox One gamepad so it should work with no problem with any XInput-type gamepad. However, it seems that the game has compatibility issues with DirectInput-type controllers and PlayStation gamepads; it is recommended to use XInput Wrapper or similar tools. If the game doesn't recognize your controller - try using one of the additional tools from PCGamingWiki guide for controllers
Some users have trouble with installing the game when the installer doesn't see the disc, especially on Windows 10 and 11. The possible workaround method to install the game: create folder WOLF_DVD on your hard drive, copy all files from the disc to that folder and then try to install the game from WOLF_DVD folder. That method is not 100% guaranteed but it may work

I hope this helps someone out trying to install this on Windows 11. I am running on an AMD processor and GPU.

First, I installed the game from the "US version (Multi-language)" ISO using the Setup.exe. Then I found where the game installed (for me it was in C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\X-Men Origins - Wolverine(TM)), then opened up the Binaries folder and replaced Wolverine.exe with the one from the NoDVD file. Things didn't immediately work so here is a list of things I tried in order and what finally got the game running:

1) Installed the legacy drivers from the installs provided in the ISO (DirecX, PhysX, Visual C++; I think I also got the pop-up to install NET Framework with VC++). Game would not launch.

2) Found OpenAL32.dll in my C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder and copied it into the Binaries folder for the game (I thought there may be a sound conflict). Still no launch.

3) Tried DXVK (Vulkan API) that was suggested in the notes on this page. Copied the d3d9.dll file into the Binaries folder. Still no launch.

4) Tried enabling DirectPlay as suggested on this page. Still no launch.

5) Downloaded the file from this page titled "PhysX Legacy Driver (required for the game)" which appears to be version 9.13.0604. GAME SUCCESSFULLY LAUNCHED AND PLAYABLE!

Feel free to try jumping straight to the PhysX 9.13.0604 and see if that works! I just kept all the other things I tried first since I didn't want to break the game now that I got it working.

I think I found the issue.
My "Documents" folder where it seems to have to save saves files is located on a network storage under Z:
During the installation process of the normal ISO file, I have an error which says "Z: Drive not valid" and the installation process ends.
Any idea on how I could bypass this and/or makes the save location to Z: something?

Hi,
I have an issue which is that the game does not save my progression and I have to restart from the beginning everytime.
I guess it has to be linked to the save folder.
On PCGamingWiki, it is written that it should be in %USERPROFILE%\Documents\Wolverine\WGame\SaveData\ which does not seems to exist.
I have tried different things and looked at all the *.ini files but I am not able to pinpoint why autosaves are not working.
Any idea?

See for setup application click and install
After installation see folder in c drive in system files and check for activision folder
Search game folder in it.

When you play it ask for CD/DVD
Download noDVD file and extract it
You'll fine game application and one text file cut and paste in game folder it will ask to replace or copy

Works fine on Windows 11 x64. Didn't need to make any other changes or apply any patches. Installed it from the .iso and ran 'Run_Wolverine.bat' from the install folder. 2 hours in and no issues.

Dont know why but the controller I used was messing up big time.
It kept popping up a digital windows keyboard, or would boot me out of the game.
(just a standard xbox controller.

Not only that the right thumb stick was ultra sensitive.

if your having trouble getting past the installer. right click on setup.exe , click properties and compatibility . Then click on reduced color and run at 640x480 and apply.

If I had to guess (I am not gonna reinstall the game just to check it out LOL) the "conveyor belt in the cryo room" problem has to do with high FPS on you PCs. Try capping it to 60 or 30 in your Nvidia/AMD settings.

I'm having the same problem as Gamenator01, the only difference is that somehow on my first play through i found a way to glitch myself past and unfortunately i don't know how i did it or remember. The conveyor belt in the cryo room is too slow and any attempt i make to get past the beams is fruitless (including godmode). If anyone can please provide a solution that would be amazing

I'm stuck in the cryo freezer room since the conveyor belt that's supposed to carry you past the beams moves me too slowly, so I unfreeze before I can get past them. I've only managed to find one other instance of someone having this problem and I don't know how to get around it. Is it to do with the Physx drivers? Because as far as I know I've installed them correctly

Elamigos version lets you change language when installing the game, it also works straight out from the installation on Windows 11.

You can delete the "videos" folder in-game to speed up the loading and skip the game cutscenes, useful for replays.

If you care about unsupported resolutions check pcgamingwiki for vsync and resolution fixes and tweaks.

@TWOLEFTHANDSGAMING According to WSGF, that resolution is not supported https://www.wsgf.org/dr/x-men-origins-wolverine/en (check Resolutions & Configurations). Unreal Engine 3 wasn't supporting some of "exotic" resolutions, try to enter some other resolution in .ini-file and see what happens

I'm trying to set the game's display resolution to 1600x900, and I edit it into the WEngine.ini file as instructed, but then when I open the game after saving my changes, the game reverts to it's default 1280x720 resolution. Am I doing something wrong?

"dxvk-2.3.tar", unzips with winrar, etc, download from github.
Vulkan wrapper helped tons !!
Use the files in the 32bit folder for directx 9.0c:
Put d3d9.dll and dxgi.dll alongside the game executable.
Also be sure to run the game at 60 (not 59, etc).

Cheat Engine:
--- Health Red Bar, FLOAT, address ens in 8 (examples 13641EF8/25924298, etc), full Exact starting Value = 50.0000 (grows 5 each level, plus more with 4 points on skill health.
Got health maxed at 320 at max level 40.

--- Experience, 4 Bytes, address ends on C on my install at least, grows by value shown each time you kill a foe.
At some 1,400,000 or so you are maxed at level 40.
Character key shows green Exp bar.
--- Skill points, 4 Bytes, got at certain levels, its address is just 4 Bytes above that of Experience.

I slightly updated the guide, added few more advise for possible troubles. For Windows 10/11 users - make sure that you installed PhysX drivers and enabled DirectPlay before launch. If it didn't help - you may try to use DXVK to run the game through Vulkan API, maybe that would help (link to DXVK is in the guide above)

If you delete the "Movies" folder in the root directory of the game, it skips the cutscenes and speeds up the loading times; useful for replays!

Working on Windows 11

Been having a blast on this, so many memories. Originally I only played the 360 version, then the PS3 version later on.

Why this never got a remaster or Series S/X upgrade with BC is beyond me. The graphics at times do shine at higher resolution when fixes are applied.

Issue on the Sentinel level with the ice freezer section, slow character movement on the transport belt. an get around it with a guard and throwing him into the beams or getting lucky.

Other than that it has and still is a blast.

So I installed the original iso and mounted it and then installed the game, but I can't replace wolverine.exe with the noDVD one. it says the disc needs 50mbs more space so I don't know what to do.

I tried both repacks, installed several vcredist packages, physX legacy driver, DX9 and cannot get it to run. There's no error output, the exe just closes itself instantly after starting. Shortcut is set to admin rights and compatibility mode, tried XP and Vista.
Running Windows 10 Pro 22H2 on an Ryzen 5600G with latest drivers. Suggestions?

@MATT Just install Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable, it's like a minimum requirement for any old game. @BYEXSPENCER Okay, checked it once again today, everything worked fine on my Windows 10 PC with AMD video card, I just used NoDVD and run the game in compatibility mode with Windows XP SP2 and as administrator. Make sure you have DirectPlay enabled https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/Troubleshooting_guide/Startup_and_launching_problems#DirectPlay_games_do_not_work_or_prompt_for_DirectPlay_feature.2FDLL

I searched in the Internet - people recommend to install PhysX drivers from the disc or PhysX Legacy Driver https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/drivers/physx/physx-9-13-0604-legacy-driver/. I have it installed, maybe that's why I had no problem with launch, I'll add it to Notes.
Also, some people recommend try to edit config file to skip in-game videos (intros and pre-rendered cutscenes). You can find instructions how to edit config file here https://www.pcgamingwiki.com/wiki/X-Men_Origins:_Wolverine#Skip_intro_videos

Update: Game just takes an eternity to start after the splash screen but the main menu doesn't exist & when I am able to start, it infinitely loads after the intro cutscenes and the game never starts.

I've tried every version uploaded here, but none of them work. They won't start even though I select Windows XP/Vista compatibility or have rundll32 running. I can't find any solutions here or online.
