Description of Menace

Standard side-scrolling shooter from DMA Design (designers of Lemmings and Grand Theft Auto among other Psygnosis classics).

Menace was their first title, written for the Amiga first in 1988. This is a decent PC conversion, although it's missing the jumpy music and the graphics look a little odd compared to the Amiga due to the limitations of the EGA palette. But nevertheless a nice shooter. Nothing special, but fun for a while. Especially if you like the genre, like I do. :) You might need a slow-down util to make this playable.

Reminds on the other side-scrolling shoot'em up games R-type and Katakis/Denaris.
Nice EGA-graphics but unfortunately this DOS-version has no parallax-scrolling like the Commodore-versions of Menace.
I think it was already possible at this time. See P-47: The Freedom Fighter.

Actually according to the developers, Salamander/Life Force was the main inspiration behind the game.
