It works on Linux including the multiplayer and runs more stable than windows surprisingly.
Make sure to use the rip version and configure Lutris to use proton-ge and install the directplay, directmusic, dmusic, dsound windows dlls using winetricks.
For the multiplayer you have to modify hlsr.dll with a hex editor and replace "gamespy.com" with "openspy.net". Then simply use the ip of whoever is hosting the server in the in game options.

Doesn't work on Windows 10. Clicking on the run exe does nothing. Clicking the setup exe ends with fatal error.
I haven't tested on XP.
