Description of Frederik Pohl's Gateway

One of the best sci-fi games I've ever played, this game follows Pohl's classic: you play a "prospector" - one of the brave souls who volunteer to pilot alien crafts to unknown destinations, hoping to find valuable artifacts. As with other early Legend releases, the interface is excellent. I can't find fault with this game except that it seems a bit short. The plot is first-rate and puzzles challenging throughout. (the "Virtual Reality"-based puzzles are some of best puzzles ever designed for an adventure game, bar none).

And best of all, Legend released the game as freeware a few years ago to promote Gateway 2: Homeworld. Two thumbs up!

Be really nice to own this as a windows 64 bit application.

What would it take to upgrade this to a windows playable game ?

I remember this game as a kid still. Never finished it but hunted me all these years. Thanks for find. Be nice if they adapted this for mobile too.

Great review. I'm reading the trilogy now. It's incredible. Great deep thick atmosphere within the gateway asteroid, superb, witty, almost funny-satirical language, yet still serious and believable. Because it's a first-person point of view book and the protagonist is humourous, but NOT a comedian. Absolutly recommended. Will download and replay the games. Legend Entertainment have always delivered.

Best game ever!

An excellent adventure game, I still remember several of the puzzles and the major plot points even years later, and as the description says, the virtual reality puzzles were at best hilarious. Music was for the most part good too, fitting the milieu of the locales.
