The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble
Windows 3.x - 1995
Description of The Bizarre Adventures of Woodruff and the Schnibble
Coktel ended its line of puzzle games on a mildly disappointing note, with a game that is too confusing, too open-ended, with puzzles so wacky (i.e. illogical) that they would require an unusual brain or an inordinate amount of time to solve.
Even the plot itself is hard to summarize: You are an alien named Woodruff who is tasked with finding the mysterious gadget the Schnibble of Azimuth. Despite vibrant SVGA graphics and some very funny sight gags, the puzzles are so confusing and illogical that I doubt anyone could finish this game without any hints.
Recommended, but only to puzzle experts. And even then, be prepared to take some Advil while you're at it ;)

My friend and I used to sit at the computer and solve all of the old great adventure games together for hours on end. I'd wager we sat and completed over thirty games together over the years and enjoyed every minute of it.
That was until we met the impenetrable mess that is Woodruff and the Schnibble. Now, adventure games have been accused of using some questionable logic in some of their more obtuse puzzles, but Woodruff reinvents the concept of moon logic, turns it on it's head and then burns whatever rules it decided to follow a minute ago.
It was the very last adventure game that my friend and I played together because we simply could not figure out what the hell it was asking of us. Even that aside, the story is as convoluted and hard to follow as the internal logic.
About the only positive note I would give to it is that the graphics and art-style were absolutely beautiful at the time and still hold up well today. Beyond that, there's many reasons why Woodruff and the Schnibble is never mentioned when anyone is discussing the classic adventure games of old.

This game follows it's own logic. Once you got it, you got it. It's an absolute brilliant out of the box one in a kind game. Highly highly underrated. To me it's on par with Day of the Tentacle.
