Get to Main Menu fine, can select a level & mod the car fine, but as soon as a race tries to launch, minimize & nothing. Can hear the music, but can't switch back to the game. Ideas?

Here is how to get hot wheels mechanix running on windows 10. First, Install the iso version of the game. once its done installing extract the file by default or you can use 7zip or winrar. once its done extracting mount hot wheels mechanix.mdf or .mds and run the setup in the iso file. select your install directory and wait for it to finish. you will get a prompt saying something about directX 8, select no as the search for directX 8 will end the installation. Once its done you can run mechanixsw as administrator and the game will launch. do not try to run the original mechanix as it will not be stable to play due to the requirement of directX 8 for visual effects like flames, nitrous flare and water splashes when driving. as far as I know there isn't anyway to play the original mechanix without having to use a virtual machine like virtual box that allows you to use windows XP

To run this game it's better to use a VirtualBox with WindowsXP
This way it just worked perfectly for me
