Mahjong in video games usually points to one of two things: the real tabletop game (most often Japanese riichi mahjong in arcade/console releases), or "mahjong solitaire", the single-player matching puzzle that uses mahjong tiles but plays nothing like the 4-player game. Mahjong video games have been especially common in Japan since the early 80s, while the solitaire style became a worldwide PC hit still popular today.
