A decent game for it's time, made by the same guys who made the original Mafia and Hidden and Dangerous.
my only complaint is that the sound will occasionally cut out, and I have to close the game and open it again to fix it.

Configuration via dgVoodoo 2: If the first method does not work, use dgVoodoo 2, a more advanced emulator for older graphics cards. Download the latest version of dgVoodoo 2. Extract the archive and copy the files from the MS/x86/ folder (specifically D3D8.dll, and optionally D3DImm.dll and DDraw.dll) into the root directory of the game *Chameleon*. Also, copy the configuration program dgVoodooCpl.exe into the same directory. Open dgVoodooCpl.exe, go to the DirectX tab, and ensure that the correct texture mapping is enabled and the dgVoodoo watermark is disabled (unless you want it visible in the game). The game will then run without any graphical glitches.

The fact that you can see enemies through walls in the Slovak game *Chameleon* (released in 2005 by Cauldron/Silver Wish Games) is not a computer error, but rather a combination of game mechanics and the technical limitations of an aging engine. Here are the main reasons why this happens: X-ray equipment (Game mechanic): As a CIA agent, you have access to special spy gear in certain missions—such as thermal imaging (infrared vision) or special goggles. These gadgets allow you to see the heat signatures of enemies and guards through walls, helping you plan your next move. Camera system bugs (Technical reason): The game runs on a modified LS3D engine (the original engine from the first *Mafia* game), which was not ideal for the stealth genre. The third-person camera often glitches through wall textures. When you press against a wall or stand in a corner, the camera sometimes passes through the wall, unintentionally revealing what is happening in the next room. Compatibility issues on modern PCs: If you play the game on a modern Windows 10 or 11 system without additional community patches (fixes), the graphics engine renders layers (Z-buffer) incorrectly. these clowns make fire weapon and drag body the same exact button.. in a stealth game. Somebody should have told them that keyboards have like 180+ buttons on them.
this game is excruciating, the first hour of the game you literally watch a guy take a piss as you trail him slowly around the WHOLE ENTIRE TOWN
The only thing that can ruin a game with this much content and beauty, is stealth. And guess what? Every level is stealth. This game would have been a massive success if they chose ANYTHING but stealth. What were they thinking? Its horrible. You need to fail a level 70 times first before you can learn how to beat it. 100% clownware. The graphics are good. But the controls are abysmal. Instead of right click to aim down your sniper scope you have to press the V key.. in order to start moving again you need to lower your weapon down first.. seriously? This game makes dayz controls look GOOD in comparison

Can you upload the Russian version from here:https://archive.org/details/Chameleon-LivBs. The Czech version doesn't have Starforce, nor the custom installer. The original version has Starforce.

Only loading Starforce drivers at PC startup will cause a blue screen - in my case, a PC restart was always required to start the newly installed drivers ( 5+ Starforce games ). If you delete or rename these files from the system in any way ( safe mode, USB boot, ... ), the system works again ( my experience with Win7 ). You can use scanning programs such as "Total Uninstall" during installation and delete or rename them when new *.sys files are created. Or turn off Starforce via the "Autoruns" program. There are really a lot of ways to get rid of this protection. And for every game. At least "ISO Version Czech version 1.9 GB" is without Starforce for sure - a few months ago, I finished this amazing game again :)

I extracted ISO Version Czech version 1.9 GB and the english mod from Moddb into a shared folder for VMLite XP Mode to avoid any possible problems with eventual Starforce.
It works perfectly in VMLite.
Looking into Windows\System32 folder of VMLite XP Mode it seems there is no sf*.sys or sf*.dll files, so Starforce should not be in use, but for safety I still play within VMLite.

Reaction on "ISO Version Czech version 1.9 GB".
The exe files size matches my DRM free files. But you can always use sites like "gamecopyworld.com". Would someone create a custom installer including StarForce DRM ( Custom Installer by ElemHunter )? I don't think so, but it's just my assumption. The best prevention of the executable file control and preventing unwanted installations is the program like "Exe Radar Pro" ( Free Beta ). But it's probably not a solution for ordinary users

But it is not an ISO; it extracts into a "Chameleon Portable" instead.
Does it install the Staforce DRM?

Works flawlessly on W10. Recommended game! Full English mod can be found on moddb site too, just a copy/paste thing. (It is fully voiced in English but the menu/HUD and all text is originally in Czech)
