I couldn't get this game to work on both Windows 10 and Windows XP VM, at least the original version. Switching to VMWare Windows 2000 Professional resolved the crashing issue for me. However, I still experienced constant flickering during gameplay. Eventually, I managed to find a solution by adjusting the hardware acceleration pointer to the middle in the Properties Settings Advanced Troubleshoot. I selected the option that disables all DirectDraw and Direct3D accelerations, as well as cursor and advanced drawing accelerations. The game ran smoothly thereafter. I hope this workaround proves useful.

I can get this to run on all os 95 to win 7. later os freeze on intro, tap ESC to skip into game. Problem I have is if you move cursor too close to the edge of the screen, game crashes to desktop, some os give no error, some gives ddraw error, tried different GPUs, ati 9250 256mb, palit&asus fx5200 128mb, asus 7950gt 512, gtx980ti , No Luck!
Apparently runs best in 256 colors or 24bit.
Tried old Asus sp-97v with sis5598 4mb onboard from 1997, supports 24bit max , game now playable without crashing, but cut scenes jumpy prob due to 4mb vram and lack of mpeg2 support.
Wanted to play this since I was 16, 18 years later. Oh yes!

I played this a long time ago on Windows XP, When I upgraded to Windows 7, I was never able to get it to work. Came across your site and decided to give it another shot on my Windows 10 Build 1901. During installation, I was asked for an OS, I chose Windows XP. On the Desktop Shortcut, I right clicked and navigated to the Compatibility tab and selected Windows 98/Me, and then restarted the computer and the game worked fine, I can't believe it. I do have the Manual, nothing much in it that's of any use except information on the use of the controls, etc. You'll get the hang of it once you start playing.
