Well ! After the first attempt to make the simulator work without a lot of luck, now I have found this procedure that, at least as far as I'm concerned, it went well.
Well, let's start downloading the game. The file you need is: Enhanced CD Version English Version 149 MB. The file is obviously zipped, therefore we decompose with Winrar. Once this is done, a folder called "USNF" will be created. Inside this folder there should be another folder called "Image", inside this folder there is the image file.iso. It will be the only file that you will use after the decompression of the zipped file, in fact you can delete everything else, you have to remain only the folder with the .iso file ... Now let's proceed to "mount" the file. I used a cd rom with a 700 MB capacity, but in my opinion a DVD with a greater capacity could also be fine. It would be a waste of space, but if today it is difficult to get a DVD, it could be even more difficult to buy a cd rom !!! However, a support of this type would be needed. I inserted the CD ROM and it was enough to double click on the image. At that point, the system asked me if I wanted to proceed with the burning of that image file. I clicked on ... yes ... and after a few minutes, the burning, which would also be equivalent to the "mount" of the image file, was made.
Now you can also get rid of the .iso file present in the "Image" folder, as its content is now on the Masterized CDROM, which will always be left in the CDROM player. Now go to your hard disk, it should usually be C, but if you have more than one, you can choose the one you want, keep in mind, however, that the identification letter of your HD will be the one you will have to indicate when we use "Dos Box". In my case, having chosen c inside I created a folder, for convenience I called it "x", but the choice of the name is free, just take into account it at the moment when, in the dos box, we go to "mount the Drive ". In fact, the command I used is: Mount C C: \ x. Obviously, if you have chosen another name for your folder, instead of the "X" you will have to write the name you chose. Very important thing, as it will be in this folder that the installation of the game will create the files of the simultator. This also to mount the "virtual" drive if you have chosen a different HD from C, in the after "Mount" command, the letter would go that Identify the drive you chose, for example, if you have chosen the deniminated HD f ... it will be mount f f ... if G will be mount g g ... if E it will be mount e e ... and so on. Subsequently I also "mounted" the drives for the CD player, namely: mount d D: \ -t CDROM. Obviously also in this case the "D" refers to the letter of recognition that Windows has for your CD ROM player, if the letter is different, the command must be changed with the corresponding letter. At that point we are almost ready, just type D: And send, after this you can see, by typing the command dir, which we are able to read the content of the CDROM!
Among the .exe files, you can notice the presence of the "install.exe" file. So we type install and send. Here we are !!! The game should begin to install, follow the instructions that may appear on the screen and wait for the end of the installation, after that there is the choice of video configuration phase, in this regard, I must say that if you choose higher graphic openings At 640x480, the game view will be the one without the cockpit, that is, a view where you can only see the full screen HUD image. If we choose the usual function keys, to have the "internal" view of the piloting cabin, it would be of no use, only a few external shots would change. Also chosen the sound configuration ... the game is ready! After a game, to start another, open the folder created by the installation (take a lot of attention, use the one created by the installation and not the one produced by the decompression of the zipped file, as I wrote before, you could delete it completely, except the folder with the "image" file). In the folder there is the "USNF.EXE" file, drag it to Dos Box and you will see that a message appears that informs you that the drive for the CDROM player are missing. To remedy, use the usual command: mount d D: \ -t Cdrom, done this just type USNF and .... voila, you can fly again on the sea on board your jet ...

Guys...Forget it...downloading this stuff is just a waste of time...You need specific skills that are not within everyone's reach. As far as I'm concerned, I wasted a lot of time in various attempts.....I mount the .iso files, but the games, when starting, require the presence of the CD in the drive!!! Are we still at this nonsense?...Does it take a long time to understand that when the game has physical protection, it is also necessary to provide the crack-no CD? Is it really that difficult to understand? If these cracks cannot be provided, then the game is better left alone. For those who have succeeded, I congratulate them, perhaps it is not their skill, but the luck of having dated computers.

I have the CD version and the game is very hard to beat a mission, every time the enemy disappeares and I fail missions, it's not like F-22 Lightning II and the Ace Combat games on original Playstation.

following those instructions and this command

worked perfectly

Tried the step by step from Anon in windows 10. It doesn't work.
Extract download, check
Rename iso image in Images folder to USNF. check
Mount that iso and note what drive it is (IE F:\), check (the window shows "DVD Drive (E:)USNF"
Then run DOSBox and type
Mount d: e:\, check
Then type
e: , failure "Drive E: does not exist! you must mount it first. "
Any ideas what I'm missing?

You said it ALP. Back on the day getting these to work on the original DOS machines was a trial in itself. :) Getting it to work on DOSbox is a breeze compared to that.

To get the Enhanced CD version working.
Extract download
Rename iso image in Images folder to USNF
Mount that iso and note what drive it is (IE F:\)
Then run DOSBox and type
Mount d: f:\
Then type
f:
Then DOSBox asks the question to access as a real drive
Type Y
After that mount the main USNF folder
Do that by typing
Mount c: d:\USNF
d part of command being where the USNF directory is (Can be anywhere on PC)
Finally type
C:\
and
USNF
Hope that explains in laymans terms.

This only has navy fighter, not marine fighter. I thought GOLD version has both.

amazes me to see folks complain about having to mess with the DosBox emulator to get these games working... for a free try at a game that would have cost real money back in the day and isnt even built for their current OS.... there are plenty of web pages to help folks out.
Plsying with DOSBOX has made computers fun again after too long just being an icon clicker :)

no cd, awwwww this sucks.
good website but wish you would either have a working version downloadable or just take down games that don't work right away.
ah whatever.
poormanisme 2016-01-28 0 point

To solve the CD problem on DosBox, with the version of USNF on CD:
"
To enable CD-ROM support (includes MSCDEX) in Windows:
- mount d f:\ -t cdrom
"
This was extracted from the Help File of DosBox: "DOSBox 0.74 Manual.txt", it's into Program Files, path of DosBox installed.
"d" is the drive to use into DosBox, "f:\" is the drive of your computer where the CD is inserted, for example a virtual drive mounted with Daemon Tools or similar software, using the USNF .iso.
I hope you can enjoy this great game.

I unzipped and placed into folder. Did Dosbox to C:\Games\USNF USNF
The game won't load because of no CD. I searched for a MF.BAT and this is not on the file listing. Please advise. Thanks!

Launched MF.BAT, game worked - took screenshots from the low-res version, CD version uses SVGA mode.
