One possible reason why you'd have performance issues with blake stone, and not the more modern blood, when running in dosbox using default settings is that blood runs in protected mode, which kicks dosbox into max cycles, giving the game as much processing power as your computer can provide, the much older wolf3d engine that BS uses probably doesn't do this, when running in a window you can see how many cycles dosbox is allowed, pressing Ctrl+F12 will increase the value. Of course, BS has much lower quality animation and less fluid motion, so even when not limited by cycles it'll be relatively jerky.
have a look at http://www.dosbox.com/wiki/Performance#CPU_Cycles_.28speed_up.2Fslow_down.29 if it does turn out to be cycle related

To Generals: to switch to fullscreen, enter -noconsole in command string or press Alt+Enter during work with DosBox. But you're right, for some reason this game, being much older, runs many times slower in DosBox than Blood, for example - although Blood is much more complicated. It's impossible to play it, as the movement is extremely jerky. Such a pity, I wanted to play good old Blake, but no such luck.
So, to all people who want to download it: be ready to see a very jerky movement if you're running the game in DosBox!

Thx you

I enjoyed this one much better than it's predecessor, but also got much more often frustrated by it! :D
Some of the enemies (especially some bosses) are such a cruelty to gamers, that I never played it to the end - until now! :D
