At first look it's a Doom clone, upon actually playing it if you don't have RSI from swapping the 5 disks to get to the 1st level, you're presented with a game that is about as far away from doom as you could ever get.

The programmers had a sense of humour, walking into any walls damages your health, makes the screen go red,as a multitude of text flies by at the bottom of the screen, which scroll endlessly, watch where you're going? you can't walk through walls!

The game makers must have been fresh out of the text adventure boom of the early 80s if this is what they thought is acceptable or funny in the mid 90s,as you can actually see where you're going or as well as an Amiga could allow you to.

Then there's the game itself,i couldn't get off the 1st level,so going from a noobs viewpoint, can you just start blamming and blasting?

No as you don't have a gun, ammo is in the 1st room, but monsters attack very quickly, ceiling hanging aliens shoot at you,and then you just end up slamming into the walls as the screen goes red as you run from what you'd think is just the monsters attacking, but no it's you hitting the walls, which is rather stupid and unnecessary,as it confuses the player and complicates any sense of what is actually happening.

The controls are mouse and keyboard so it seems to be quite advanced, but because it's that Gloom/Fears era,its all looks the same, you can't look down,at least i couldn't when playing,so its all guess work as to where you're actually standing and as to the where the walls are relative to your head,so banging into them is a constant problem.

I had no idea where the guns were,i was constantly being chased and attacked and i couldn't survive long enough to escape the first few rooms.

If the game's take on doom was ever any good it's ruined by silly wall physics, very tough monsters, you seem to have one life,so it's that kind of game where it's the school of get it right 1st time or you're dead.

And don't even mention the 2 disk swaps required to go back to the menu screen and reload again!

It HDD installable of you have a hard file on WinUAE,or a real HDD on a real Amiga, but i found the installer was confusing...

Disk 2 is the same as Cytadela (polish version of this) and TOSEC allows no duplicates. Use Cytadela Disk 2.
