Description of Croc: Legend of the Gobbos
Croc: Legend of the Gobbos is a fun 3D game that was much more successful on the Playstation and Gameboy Color consoles.
You play Croc, a cute Crocodile who's trying to rescue his even cuter friends the Gobbos from bad guy, Baron Dante. The game is basically a 3D platformer with some puzzle elements thrown in. You navigate the levels in 3D, controlling Croc from the third-person perspective behind his back as he negotiates various traps and obstacles and deals with monsters. Croc can perform a wide range of attacks and movements, all of which are nicely animated. He can run, jump, climb, swim and dive, hit enemies with his tail, hang from ledges and drifting balloons, and stomp. He can also perform special moves like a quick 180-degree turn and a super-stomp, which is the most effective way to destroy stacked crates that get in the way.
The game has clearly been designed with younger gamers in mind: there is very little violence in the game, as Croc carries no weapons and monsters simply disappear when hit (much like Super Mario games). The puzzle aspect in the game is the familiar "how do I get from point A to B" variety. You have to make use of push boxes or jellies which boost Croc to high places, collect keys to open doors or unlock cages, and use balloons to fly to new areas. This is not to mention switches, monkey bars, climbable walls, and many more terrain features that you can interact with. Again like Super Mario, you can discover bonus levels by collecting the prerequisite amount of colored crystals. Other than giving you plenty of bonus items, these bonus levels also feature fun subgames such as a "whack-a-mole" clone that help break the regular gameplay The enemies are equally well-designed and fun to watch. You will find bouncing lava balls, giant worms, giant bees, vampire fish, and dozens more. With 5 different 3D worlds and over 40 levels to explore, Croc will keep you occupied for quite a few hours.
All in all, Croc is a fun 3D action game that doesn't take itself too seriously, nor does it try to introduce anything new to the genre. Older gamers may quickly get bored of the simple and easy gameplay: the 'puzzles' are very easy to figure out as this is by no means a 3D Lemmings kind of game, and monsters are easily beaten. Younger gamers will likely be more attracted to the game's charming 3D cartoon graphics, whimsical characters, and colorful levels, making Croc a good introductory-level game for them. Recommended, especially to young gamers in your house.

The Windows iso provided here is a bad rip. If you intend to install it on a vintage gaming PC it will crash at the title screen no-matter what, so don't waste your time with it and just get a different rip of the game from archive.org.

it seems that the game has since majorily become corrupted or something, many many files in the windows exe are just straight up corrupted, and the ISO isn't capable of opening because it seems to be completely corruped, dissapoiting.

After starting the game it turns all black. How can I fix the black screen? I can hear the (nostalgic) game sound perfectly :(

this is the second release of the game with Direct3D update it won't run on Windows 98 or Windows 95, the first release works on both Windows 98 and Windows 95. if you want to play it on modern Windows 10 or Windows 11 you're better off playing the PSX version it offers better controls with Dualshock, the definitive edition runs well on Windows 10 it just doesn't work well with a gamepad

I'm having a strange issue, I'm managing to run the game completely fine (64 bit) and play up until the level Mud Mania where the game hard crashes with no warning or error, help would be gladly appreciated because this game was a huge part of my childhood and I'd love to be able to play all of it :]

Croc is running very well on my PC, the game uses tank controls so I'm definitely losing more lives than I should be... Soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, would recommend.

I bought the disc for this game and it wouldn't run. :/ Maybe I bought a version for Windows 95/98.

Got this and wow. Worked pretty well for my Windows 10, even if it bugged the screen at first (changing the resolution really fixed this for me) but even then try avoiding Clicking off the game, it is janky/weird when you click off. This version of the game may be more modern, I would almost say its similar to the Modded Croc that Speedrunners used years back, but this is a Great game. Change the controls to match what ever you want and it plays like a charm!
Replaying this game from my childhood was an amazing experience, even if it made me see the flaws this game has. Id recommend downloading it and having a go if you have the time !

Yes, this is the game during the Playstation 1 console in the 90s;) On Windows 10 with the XO pad it works perfectly.

i was very suspicious of this site. not because it looked off or anything like that. i just thought that it was too good to be true. the only reason i even took the chance of downloading it is because i have norton antivirius, but it actually worked. the only problem with it, is that in the game, when you beat one of the bosses on my old disk version, there were those little cutscenes that showed them turning back into whatever they were, this doesnt have those. thats not much of a problem.

this game was so good. Played so many times as a kid. Getting 100% completion and unlocking the crystal island was not accomplished until I was much older.

Just thought I'd drop this here. For music to work you must burn the image to a physical CD. Enjoy! :)

I do love this game, and recently I saw a project that cleaned up and converted Croc to opengl. I wanted to share this youtube link (has a download link to the updated game in the description) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8vz_-nEmsGM I wanted to share so maybe if you see this comment you might replace the download you have up with this one.

If you want to run this game on Windows 10 x64 you have to replace the 16bit setup file with a 32bit version. See link for details. https://www.vogons.org/viewtopic.php?t=35134
Copy the setup folder from the CD to your harddrive and replace the setup with the V5 version found near the bottom of the page on vogons.
In addition you may want a Glide wrapper like nGlide or dgVoodoo to run in 3dfx mode.

You can tell that it wouldn't be as good as Super Mario 64, but there has been better 3D platformers since afterwards.
